Living in the Garden…
Our customers were garden lovers and wanted to feel as though they were sitting in their garden even on a cold winters day.
They were looking to demolish their existing small conservatory and replace it with a much larger orangery build. This meant dismantling the original conservatory ready for the foundations for the new orangery. Once foundations were completed we could begin the foundation brickwork for the orangery. The floor was made up of hardcore sand, damp proof course (DPC), insulation, a further DPC and then three inches of concrete for the flooring. All constructed to local building regulations with regular inspections during this time. Walls were constructed of thermalite blocks, 100mm cavity insulation then external bricks to match the current house brickwork. Once this work was completed it enabled us to bring in our specialist installers to complete this orangery build. This included five metre bifolding doors with self cleaning tinted glass for the roof. Once finished Robert and Carol furnished the room in a style which was very neutral with oak furniture and soft lighting which made them feel as though they were still in their beautiful garden. We look forward to a revisit in the summer when the plants are in bloom.
Our customer required down lighting within the room and for the all year round use, central heating and underfloor heating. For the Summer a full width fly door was fitted in order to keep out pests.
